Mommy and Daughter Facials!

Let me start by saying that in no way, shape or form do I think that children need ‘beauty treatments’ or facials. However, having a 4 year old daughter I do know that little girls like to do what mommy does. On the rare occasion that I put on nail polish Annabelle wants it too, when I put on makeup she pretends to do the same and when I put something on my face she wants it too. I use Aveda products on myself regularly but I don’t necessarily want to put them on a little person, so what to do instead? Put food on your face! Every woman likes a good facial mask and here are some that are packed with anti-aging properties, vitamins, hydration and since they’re nothing but food you can make it a mommy daughter spa treatment and put it on your childs face as well! Here are some great ones:

Strawberries. All you have to do is mush them up, rub them onto your face and leave them on as a mask for a while. They’re chock full of antioxidants and will give you a bright complexion. Remember to go organic since strawberries are one of the most heavily sprayed crops and you don’t want pesticides on your pretty face!

Papaya. This powerful fruit is used in so many expensive facial treatments because the natural enzymes help slough off dead skin. Use this as a gentle alternative to a scrub on a clean face. Papayas are a fruit that are very sadly genetically modified- I don’t recommend eating genetically modified foods nor do I recommend putting it on your face, so buy organic.

Honey. A powerful antimicrobial and antibacterial it is great for acne prone skin. All you need to do is slather it on and leave it on for as long as you like then rinse with water. For the best benefits try using raw, organic honey.

Bananas. Now you have a great use for the browning banana sitting on your countertop! They make great exfoliators and if you mix it with a little bit of honey can make a great facial mask that can brighten a dull complexion.
