Skinny mamma or milky mamma?

If you’ve been reading my blog you know that I’ve recently become obsessed with kettle bell bootcamp. I am still loving it and in the first 4 weeks I dropped 7.5 inches! As any exercise junkie I want others to love it as much as I do and feel as good as I do since it’s been a part of my life. So Brown Fitness of Bootcamp Fort Worth is starting a bootcamp at my school twice a week which I am thrilled about! We have zumba at school on Wednesdays which I just started this week and part of the Fat loss challenge that Erik Brown Fitness is doing is a diet. Just looking at the diet makes me hungry. But that’s not the point. It’s a fabulous plan and it would probably double my loss during our 8 week fat loss challenge.

So, what’s the problem? I’m still a breastfeeding mama; and my milk production is slowing down. Since starting work again and being on a regular workout schedule my frozen breastmilk supply has gone from 30 bags to 10 bags, and I pump 3 times a day. So there’s my dilemma. What to do, what to do? Just like anyone else I’d so much rather have a quick fix and get rid of this crazy baby fast but I’m afraid of doing it at the expense of my breast milk, or liquid gold as Monique calls it =).

So here’s the plan. I’m not going to stop working out because not only is it important for my physical health but also for my mental health. 45 minutes of the blood, sweat and tears that a good workout offers is the key to my mental health right now. Tuesday night I started drinking lactation tea, and yesterday and today I’ve been walking around with my thermos full of it. And today I’m going pumping crazy. I remember those crazy days of cluster feedings, when Annabelle would nurse like crazy every hour or so to make my milk come in make sure I was producing enough for her. So that’s what I’m doing again. Except she’s at daycare and I’m at work and I can’t force her to nurse if she’s not hungry. So I’m pumping every 2 hours. Today, tomorrow and over the weekend between her regular nursing. I’m thinking I’ll take my pumping up until about 10:30pm, wake up once at 2am to pump and then wait for Annabelle to wake up. Ayyy the crazy things I’ll do for liquid gold.

If anyone out there has any tips, suggestions, old wives tales, miracles, anything at all that might possibly help let me know because I’m crazy enough to try anything.
