Make TODAY Healthier

Every once in a while it happens, we overindulge. Maybe it’s a date night, MNO, birthday party, or just a few days of not enough preparation. Whatever it is we all have a tendency to fall off track sometimes. The good news that getting back to your healthy ways doesn’t have to be difficult. Or maybe you’re just ready to kick-start your health. If you’ve been talking about getting healthier for a while but aren’t really sure how to do it here you go.

Here are 5 things you can do TODAY to get moving in the right direction.

1.Eat as many greens as possible. Add some greens to the rest of your meals for the day. Their oh so important nutrients will give you an important boost for your mood, energy and immune system. I love sautéed arugula with poached eggs in the morning, a stir-fry of snap peas, broccoli and string beans for lunch and maybe some spinach, asparagus or cabbage for dinner. Choose your favorites and whatever is in season where you live!

2. Eat only Real Food. That means nothing processed, nothing at all. Focus on fruits, vegetables, protein, whole grains and healthy fats.

3. Drink nothing but water. Ditch everything else for a day. Most other liquid that we drink is nothing but empty calories. Today focus on eating your food and avoiding any empty calories that you don’t need. Forget about caffeine, juice, soda. If you need a kick add some fun to your water (try some mint, fruit slices or cucumber!)

4. Move your body. Take 30 minutes and get your heartbeat up. Whatever you love. Talk a walk, swim, run or just put on your favorite music and dance around the room. This is especially fun to do with the kids!! Moving will help you feel good by boosting endorphins and help move toxins out of your body.

5. Make me time. Even if you don’t have a ton of time take a few minutes to do something you love. Read a book, take a bath, borrow your child’s coloring book and color or take 5 minutes to meditate.
